I recently just finished reading Salvation Story (the Salvation Army's book of doctrine, basically stating what we believe as a part of the Church). I was surprised by some of the cool things it talked about in there. We Salvationists believe in some sweet stuff! What I was most struck by though was the Lausanne Covenant, tucked nicely into the 13th appendix, the last thing in there. The Lausanne Covenant was made by a group of 2,700 evangelists from different denominations from 150 countries during a big sort of conference thing about world evangelization. It's an awesome covenant and I suggest you look at it. Here's an engaging quote-

"Further, the Holy Spirit is a missionary spirit; thus evangelism should arise spontaneously from a Spirit-filled church. A church that is not a missionary church is contradicting itself and quenching the Spirit."

Wow! What do you think about that?

Hello! I'm going to try to start blogging again! Kim and I got clear wire today! For those of you not on the up and up with technology in Seattle, Clear Wire is the newest way to get online! Basically you buy this modem thing that's the size of a wireless router. All you do is plug it in to a power outlet and it connects to the internet via a cellular connection. You can take your modem basically anywhere in Seattle and plug it in to get online. The only problem is that because it does a cellular connection, my basement apartment gets terrible reception. In order to get online I have to put the modem by the open window. My feet are cold.

Anyway, I'm going to attempt to blog more and stuff because I can get online regularly now. Yay for blogging!

Hey everyone who reads me!

At the moment I'm in Spokane (an awesome city on the eastern end of the wonderful state of Washington). I'm spending some quality time with Kim's family, the Schmidt side (that's her Mom's side). They's good people. Good people. This morning I got up at around 4:00 AM(whoa!) to do some after Thanksgiving shopping. I usually consider it some kind of high sin against God's wonderful creation of sleep to get up before 6, but I decided to rough it and spend some time with what soon be my extended family. It ended up being good times. Good times.

I'll be back in Seattle Monday, God willing. Weather man says its gunna snow a bunch here in Spokane, which means a bunch more up on the pass, which could mean staying here an extra day or two. Hopefully not, I need to/want to be at work. So say a prayer that we get through all right. Thanks! Bless you.

Well the whole article thing has been on hold as I find myself suddenly a lot busier than I've been in a while. Obviously, I start working and I'm busier! Whoa! The real challenge is, with much earlier mornings now, setting aside time with YHWH every morning. I'll admit it hasn't been great, but I'm devoting myself to making it better. I just hate getting up in the morning.

Kim and I have found the apartment we are going to live in come April (when we are married. Yah, I'm engaged) That's pretty exciting. I'm going to move in there in mid December which is pretty cool. It's a one bedroom. Our concerns with a smaller apartment were for one, when we get a grip of stuff at our wedding (which we will because we have a lot of people to invite) where will we put all of the stuff, and the other being what if the LORD surprises us with a child early on? Both of these are taken care of with this apartment. It has a HUGE walk in closet that would work really well as a baby's room if it needed to and a big pantry too where we can store some of our stuff, plus a couple of deep closets. We were looking on Craig's list and this was one of the cheaper ones in the area we want to move in to and was kind of the one we were like "I want that one" to when we were looking. Then, when we started making calls, this was the only apartment to actually answer the phone and we were able to check it out the same day. We don't have to pay first and last month's rent (just the first!) and the deposit is going to just work in our buget! It's completely an awesome work of the LORD. He has totally provided, as He does. Praise the LORD!

Hello!

I've been thinking about writing an article for an Army publication. Probably the Young Salvationist. I figured I have some stuff to say and I think the magazines are boring, so why not fix it by writing stuff that is much less boring? It's a great resource, but it may be getting wasted because people don't send in compelling articles for young people.

I started writing an article, twice. I'm just not sure how to say what's in my head. I've been out of school for a while, thus out of the regular practice of writing. I wrote some things at the War College, and I usually did a decent job. For whatever reason, I'm having a hard time getting this article out. Pray for me to say what I have to say with conviction and in a way that is compelling, clear, and interesting.

Do you like writing or do you have something to say? Write an article and send it in. Maybe you'll make an impact on someone. Maybe, if a whole bunch of us start writing, the YS will become the exciting magazine that the editor wants it to be! It's an end worth working to. Lets try it!
